Come hear Karen Hostetler, the Co-founder and owner of Mountain Meadow Wool Company. Mountain Meadow Wool is a full-service wool spinning mill in Wyoming whose mission is to create a company that sustains ranching. Karen will be talking about her experience starting a wool mill as well as her work researching the wool industry and its impact on the rural economy and ranching lifestyle. Karen and her business partner were the recipients of multiple USDA-SBIR grants over the last 13 years totaling more than $900,000. Today, Mountain Meadow Wool is the largest full spinning mill in the West, currently selling in 42 states and 3 countries overseas. Their products are 100% hand dyed using natural techniques, and made using bio-degradable soaps and non-petroleum spinning oil. The company also works with local ranching families for environmental agricultural sustainability and economic opportunity. This is the second in our lunch lecture series at Yale F&ES. Free lunch!
